Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ 2025 in Review: A Year of Expansion, Design, and Reimagined Heritage
New addresses, international recognition, and ambitious ideas. At Nordic Hotels & Resorts, we look back on a year filled with both defining launches and long-anticipated highlights. These were the moments that made 2025 worth noting.
There’s no shortage of movement across the Nordic hospitality scene this year. As 2025 comes to an end, Nordic Hotels & Resorts takes stock of a year shaped by new openings, fresh ideas, and international recognition. Across the Nordics, we have opened new hotels, brought history back to life, and watched our long-standing properties take confident steps forward. Together, our more than 45 unique brands make up a portfolio that continues to grow with intent.

New Icons on the Map
Hobo Oslo — Oslo, Norway
As Oslo continues its evolution as a creative capital, Hobo Oslo opened its doors in October with 181 rooms and multiple culinary and social spaces—all conceived under the brand’s “beta mode” ethos, inviting spontaneity and local engagement.
Hernö Gin Hotell — Härnösand, Sweden
Created by Sweden’s acclaimed gin maker Hernö Gin, Hernö Gin Hotell in Härnösand blends distillery DNA with design and nature. It’s a quintessential example of place-based hospitality, merging craftsmanship with a resort sensibility.
The Dock Hotel — Södertälje, Sweden
This autumn saw the grand arrival of The Dock Hotel, a 14-storey beacon on the Södertälje marina. With sleek rooms, sky bars and water-facing restaurants, it marks a confident new chapter for the picturesque Södertälje, just outside of Stockholm.
Villa Nord — Trondheim, Norway
Looking ahead, Trondheim will welcome Villa Nord—a unique property poised to become a city landmark when it opens in 2026. Its 51 rooms, restaurant, bar, café and gym will make up an exclusive concept that combines historical heritage with modern comfort.

Munksjöstaden Hotel — Jönköping, Sweden
A new cultural hotspot is emerging in the south of Sweden, as we proudly announce the brand new Munksjöstaden Hotel in Jönköping. Right by the beautiful Lake Munksjön, the 120-room hotel—complete with bistro, bar, café, and wellness facilities—is expected to open in 2028.
Skarsnuten Mountain Resort & Spa — Hemsedal, Norway
Peace, balance, and energy, framed by stunning nature. Earlier this year, Skarsnuten Mountain Resort & Spa in Norway joined our resort portfolio, expanding our offer with a newly renovated ski and nature resort.
Hotel Odeon — Odense, Denmark
Nordic Hotels & Resorts has expanded to new markets, as we welcomed Hotel Odeon in Odense to the family in March. With 234 rooms, a popular restaurant and decidedly Scandinavian design, Hotel Odeon became our first Danish property outside of Copenhagen.
Hobo Copenhagen — Copenhagen, Denmark
Following the successes of Stockholm, Helsinki, and most recently Oslo, Hobo Copenhagen will be the last Nordic capital addition to the Hobo family. Hobo Copenhagen is currently under construction in the heart of the Danish capital, with an opening date set to December 2026.

Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards 2025
Amerikalinjen and Sommerro, two of our Oslo icons, have been recognized by Forbes' Travel Guide. They were the only Norwegian hotels recommended in the Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards 2025—a prestigious award given to hotels that deliver exceptional service and quality.
Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards 2025
A whopping 31 of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ properties across Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Norway, and Sweden were honored with the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for 2025. The recognition places our hotels among the top 10% of all listings on Tripadvisor.
World Spa Awards 2025
On the wellness front, both Yasuragi (Sweden’s Best Hotel Spa) and Norefjell Ski & Spa (Norway’s Best Resort Spa) retained their gold standings at the World Spa Awards 2025, underscoring a year in which wellbeing remained central to travel experiences.

Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2025
Each year, Condé Nast Traveler lets its readers highlight the world’s most remarkable destinations. This year, four of our hotels were recognized: Hotel Brosundet, Amerikalinjen, Hotel Kämp, and Sommerro. Together, they represent a Nordic spirit of craftsmanship, and quiet confidence.
MICHELIN Keys 2025
For the first time, the MICHELIN Key—the hotel counterpart to the MICHELIN Star—has been awarded in the Nordic countries. Three of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ Norwegian hotels made it onto the prestigious list: Hotel Brosundet in Ålesund, and Amerikalinjen and Sommerro in Oslo.
World Travel Awards 2025
Once again, the Nordic hospitality scene made a mark on the international stage. Five properties within the Nordic Hotels & Resorts portfolio were recognised at the World Travel Awards 2025, underscoring the Nordic region’s growing influence in contemporary hospitality.
Star Wine List of the Year Denmark 2025
At Copenhagen’s Admiral Hotel, restaurant aye aye’s wine list was crowned Denmark’s Best Newcomer, marrying maritime character with fine-tuned tastes.
