Nordic Hotels & Resorts Celebrates Four Wins at the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2025
Each year, the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards highlight the world’s most remarkable destinations. This year, four hotels in the Nordic Hotels & Resorts portfolio were recognized: Hotel Brosundet, Amerikalinjen, Hotel Kämp, and Sommerro. Together, they represent a Nordic spirit of craftsmanship, culture, and quiet confidence.
The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards have long been a compass for the discerning traveler. In it, the magazine’s readers rate everything from the best hotels and resorts to train trips and cruise lines, sharing their opinions on the very best in travel. For the 38th annual Readers’ Choice Awards, the readers showed up in full force: an astonishing 757,109 readers cast their vote in the 2025 survey.
This year, Nordic Hotels & Resorts secured four places on two coveted lists. Amerikalinjen, Hotel Kämp, and Sommerro were recognised among Northern Europe’s most exceptional stays—and Hotel Brosundet made the list of the best hotels in all of Europe. Each of these hotels stand as a study in Nordic refinement: rooted in heritage, elevated by design.
– We’re very proud to see our hotels recognised by Condé Nast Traveler readers this year again. It’s a strong acknowledgement of the work our teams do across very different destinations. These awards highlight the strength and diversity of the Nordic Hotels & Resorts portfolio, from heritage landmarks to modern concepts. I’m happy to see our teams’ efforts resonate so clearly with global travellers, says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle Division.

Hotel Brosundet — Ålesund, Norway (#14 in Europe)
There’s an atmosphere at Hotel Brosundet that is impossible to replicate. Set within a former fishery warehouse along the picturesque Ålesund harbour, the building’s maritime past has been reimagined with a contemporary, tactile sensibility. Think exposed timber beams, textured furniture, and open fireplaces.
The hotel’s connection to the sea runs deep. You’ll see it at Sundet Gym & Wellness—complete with fitness facilities, outdoor bathtubs, sauna, and a floating dock—as well as at Apotekergata No. 5, the in-house brasserie specialising in short-traveled flavors and the gastronomic identity of the Sunnmøre region. The result: a place that feels instantly welcoming, embodying Ålesund’s unique architectural rhythm and relationship with the ocean.

Amerikalinjen — Oslo, Norway (#9 in Northern Europe)
A few blocks from Oslo’s Central Station, Amerikalinjen is a love letter to travel itself. Once the headquarters of the Norwegian America Line, the building’s story is one of adventure. In the early 1900s, this was the launchpad for hopeful Norwegians heading to the US in search of opportunity. Today, that spirit lives on in a hotel that blends a global outlook with a Norwegian sense of opulence.
Inside, the design balances nostalgia and modernity with meticulous precision. Original detailing meets brass tones and mid-century silhouettes, all set to the live music coming from the hotel’s jazz club Gustav. Guests are encouraged to experience both the transatlantic flavours of Atlas Brasserie & Café and the imaginative cocktails of award-winning bar Pier 42. More than an imitation of old-world glamour, Amerikalinjen is a modern invention; a distillation of the cosmopolitan energy that defined the golden age of travel.

Hotel Kämp — Helsinki, Finland (#11 in Northern Europe)
Since 1887, Hotel Kämp has been the grand dame of Helsinki—a gathering place for artists, statesmen, the Finnish intelligentsia and the international flâneurs. Behind its neoclassical façade, legacy is handled with a confident touch: high ceilings, soft palettes, indulgent materials and the impeccable service that is befitting only of a contemporary landmark.
Hotel Kämp’s legacy is steeped in Finnish history, yet it continues to evolve with effortless grace. Currently undergoing one of the biggest refurbishments in its history, the hotel is soon unveiling two new bar and restaurant concepts: À La Kämp and Kämp Bar. Here, two of the Finnish capital’s most popular meeting places have been restored to their former glory, looking to the future with a modern expression. To this day, Kämp remains a piece of Helsinki’s cultural fabric.

Sommerro — Oslo, Norway (#15 in Northern Europe)
A celebration of art deco maximalism and contemporary verve, Sommerro is Oslo’s boldest statement in hospitality. Housed in a 1930s landmark that once powered the city’s electrical company, the hotel is a masterclass in revitalisation. Every detail—from original wall frescos to irreverent textile combinations—showcases a genuine love of craftsmanship.
With no less than seven venues for dining and drinks, this is a culinary destination in the truest sense. Highlights include Ekspedisjonshallen, the beating heart of the building where brasserie-style favorites are paired with the live jazz of the house band, and TAK Oslo, the magnificent rooftop restaurant serving up a sustainable take on Nordic-Japanese flavours. With its blend of nostalgia and innovation, Sommerro captures the optimistic pulse of modern Oslo.
