Hotel Kämp and THE THIEF Earn the First-Ever Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown
Two Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ properties have made it onto the newly launched Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown list. Hotel Kämp in Helsinki and THE THIEF in Oslo join a collection that represents three Condé Nast awards in one: the annual Hot List for the best new hotels, the Gold List for the editor favorites, and the Readers' Choice for the best as chosen by the audience.
Condé Nast Traveler recently launched a new hallmark of luxury on the global hospitality scene: the Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown. A list comprised of hotels that sustain excellence across decades, this new collection combines three awards in one. Rather than celebrating a single standout season, the distinction is awarded to properties that have earned all three of the publication's most prestigious accolades over time: the Hot List, the Gold List, and the Readers' Choice Awards.
For its inaugural list, two of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ hotels have made it into the collection: Hotel Kämp in Helsinki and THE THIEF in Oslo.
– To have two of our landmarks recognized in Condé Nast Traveler's Triple Crown collection is something we are enormously proud of. Providing excellence over time is an exceptionally high bar to clear. That kind of consistency doesn't happen by accident. It is the result of the people at the hotels, caring deeply about the experience of every guest. This recognition belongs to them, says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury & Lifestyle Division.

A New Award in Luxury Travel
The Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown is a special collection of properties—for many reasons. Premiering last week across the US and UK markets, this is the only group of hotels that have won all three of Condé Nast Traveler’s major awards: the Hot List, the Gold List, and the Readers' Choice Awards.
To be a Hot List winner, a hotel must have been one of the best new openings in its first year. To make the Gold List means it has been selected as an editor’s favorite, and to be on the Readers' Choice Awards means that the publication’s audience has voted the property as one of the top hotels they have ever stayed at.

On that basis, Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown is a distillation of nearly four decades of awards, accolades, and recognition across the industry. Editorial authority, industry reputation, and the collective voice of hundreds of thousands of travelers—three crucial criteria, combined into one.
Maybe most notably, Hotel Kämp and THE THIEF are two of only five hotels in the Nordics featured on the list. They are also the only ones in Finland and Norway respectively.

Hotel Kämp: Helsinki's Grand Original
Helsinki, Finland
Opened in 1887 on the Esplanade, Hotel Kämp has spent well over a century being the premier spot in Helsinki. From the outset, Finland's cultural and political life was convened in its lobby, ballroom, bar and restaurant. To step through its doors is to step into a place where grand European tradition meets a particular Finnish dedication to doing things with every detail in mind.
Today, Hotel Kämp is still the gathering-place of choice for cultural movers and shakers, while also being a favorite among locals and international visitors alike. It is a prominent name on any award list, ranging from Condé Nast Traveler to the World Travel Awards. More than just a property, what truly makes Hotel Kämp stand out is its service. Condé Nast Traveler were especially taken by it, writing:
“To secure a job here, it wouldn’t surprise me if the staff all had a personality test as part of the interview. The team seems to have a level of emotional intelligence that goes beyond basic service functions and taps into how each interaction makes you feel. [...] While it’s hard to explain, you walk away from these small interactions with a smile on your face. That’s true hospitality.”

The Triple Crown award arrives at a moment of renewal, as the hotel is currently in the midst of a significant transformation. In May 2025, a new extension was completed, adding 22 high-end rooms and suites to the property. The latest phase of the refurbishment was completed in November 2025, when the main entrance was restored to its original location on the Esplanade. At the same time, the iconic Kämp Bar and the new restaurant À La Kämp reopened their doors after considerable refurbishment in both look and feel.
The grande dame of Helsinki is, however, not done yet. A completely new wellness destination, the highly-anticipated Kämp Spa, is set to open in August 2026. The coming spa will bring together Finnish traditions, evidence-based wellness technologies, and nourishing culinary experiences. Together with a completely new Delicatessen opening in 2026, Hotel Kämp is a hotel that refuses to rest on its considerable history.

THE THIEF: Still Stealing the Show
Oslo, Norway
THE THIEF opened on Tjuvholmen—once an islet overrun by thieves, today Oslo's striking waterfront art district—in 2013. Almost immediately, it redefined what a Norwegian hotel could be: art-driven, design-led, and fiercely contemporary. It arrived in the Norwegian capital fully formed, with a sense of intimacy unusual for a property of its ambition.
Inspired by its surroundings' history, THE THIEF proudly carries on a legacy of making your own rules. The spirit of defiance lives on in this hotel that redefines luxury with a bold, unconventional spirit. Neighboring the Astrup Fearnley Museum, it merges art and design, featuring works by the likes of Damien Hirst alongside those of emerging artists. Each of the 114 art-infused rooms, including the premier Oslo Suite, blends modern luxury with cosmopolitan individuality.

Over a decade on, THE THIEF has lost none of that edge. It has ranked among the finest hotels in the world, most recently stealing the show at the Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards 2024, where it came in as the number one hotel in Northern Europe and fourth best hotel worldwide. In 2025, it was named Norway’s Leading Boutique Hotel for the tenth time at the World Travel Awards 2025.
With these accolades in mind, it comes as no surprise that THE THIEF has made it onto the Condé Nast Traveler Triple Crown list. As the magazine's own review puts it: “THE THIEF is the only one of its kind, with a determinedly modernist approach, a credible art collection, and the best harbor views in town”.
