Norwegian Ski and Activity Resort Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge Joins Nordic Hotels & Resorts

Modern comforts, classic aesthetics, and breathtaking views. The newly opened ski and activity resort Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge in Beitostølen, Norway, has quickly become a favorite among nature enthusiasts. Now, the hotel joins Nordic Hotels & Resorts' portfolio of iconic resorts in some of the Nordic region's most scenic locations.

Nestled high up in the snow-clad mountains, the small village of Beitostølen offers a picture-perfect snapshot of Norwegian mountain life. Each season brings its own charm, creating scenes straight out of a folktale. Right in the heart of this, the newly built Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge has established itself as a premier accommodation.

Opening its doors in 2023, the resort boasts an unbeatable location right in the middle of the ski slope, offering guests unparalleled access to both winter and summer activities. Further strengthening its position on the market, we are excited to announce that Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge is joining us at Nordic Hotels & Resorts as our latest member hotel.

– We are thrilled to have Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge join our group. Its stunning location and exceptional facilities perfectly align with our mission to provide captivating guest experiences. We look forward to a fruitful partnership ahead, further expanding Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ offerings and continuing to set the standard in the hospitality industry, says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts.

A Picturesque Setting

Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge features 48 spacious rooms and suites, ranging from 35 to 90 square meters. Many units include fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, and comfortable living rooms. All of this is set within stylish architecture reminiscent of traditional Norwegian mountain cabins, known as "fjellhytter", and with ski-in ski-out access to boot.

The facilities might be exceptional in their own right, but it’s Riddergaardens setting that truly makes it unrivaled. Besides the perfect weather conditions in the winter for all things skiing, guests can also explore an abundance of outdoor activities year-round. From spring to autumn, visitors have ample options for exploration on foot, bike, or even cliffside. Furthermore, the Beitostølen area neighbors the famous Jotunheimen National Park. During the warmer months of the year, the sun unveils the park’s many serene roads, trails, and mountain passes.

Having been in operation less than a year, Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge has already become a popular destination in the area. Much of the buzz can be attributed to the hotel’s dining and wellness options. In the main restaurant Casa Montagna, diners are transported south with authentic Italian flavors, baked goods, and homemade gelato. The kitchen reflects different regions of Italy, exploring culinary specialties from Venice to Naples, and from Florence to Sicily. On top of it all, Casa Montagna proudly serves their own self-produced wines, bottling red, white and rosé wine in their own bottles.

Riddergaarden prides itself on being a destination with something to see, do, and discover—for the entire family. Its wellness facility Ridderbadet is a true testament to this. This wellness landscape has everything guests could want after a long day out on the slopes: indoor and outdoor pools, swim out pools, jacuzzis, saunas, and more. The facility has both a calmer adult area as well as a dedicated kids area, ensuring that everyone, regardless of age, can make the most out of their stay.

A New Riddergaarden Takes Shape

The partnership that Nordic Hotels & Resorts now initiates with Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge aims to continue developing the hotel and its offer. For example, the hotel now gets access to our mother brand Strawberry's system platform, a brand new upgrade of all digital tools in the Strawberry group. In connection to the membership, Riddergaarden is also undergoing development where the hotel's brand will be strengthened to reflect both its quality and offer.

– Joining the Nordic Hotels & Resorts family is just the right decision for a destination like Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge. The collaboration gives us an excellent affiliation, more distribution channels and access to expertise in the hotel industry. Combined with our fantastic product, magnificent nature, and the opportunity to cater to everyone from families with children to groups of friends, this is a success in the making, says Stian Opsalhagen, General Manager at Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge.

Riddergaarden Mountain Lodge will join Nordic Hotels & Resorts as a member hotel in the summer of 2024. The implementation of the new system platform and the updated brand is expected to be ready August 20, 2024.
