29 NHR Hotels on Tripadvisor’s Travelers' Choice Awards 2024 List; Hotel Fabian Named Best of the Best
Nordic Hotels & Resorts can proudly announce that 29 of our hotels and resorts have been honored with the prestigious Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Award 2024. Not only that; Finnish design gem Hotel Fabian made it onto the list of the World’s Best of the Best in Sustainability, a small group consisting of travelers’ 15 favorite hotels world-wide that stand out for their commitment to sustainability.
Every year, the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards highlights travelers’ favorite destinations, hotels, restaurants, and things to do around the world. It is considered a hallmark of excellence in the travel industry. Like the name implies, the award is not handed out by a jury, but instead distilled from millions of travelers' opinions.
The properties are chosen based on reviews and ratings collected from the Tripadvisor platform, with the top destinations consistently earning great reviews from travelers and ranking within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor. Against this backdrop, we at Nordic Hotels & Resorts are proud of finding an astonishing 29 of our hotels and resorts on this list of the people’s favorites.
– Each of the Nordic Hotels & Resorts properties on this year’s Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards list has earned it. Through hard work, unwavering commitment to quality, and focus on guest satisfaction, they continue to set the bar both for ourselves and for the industry at large. I can confidently speak for our entire company when I say that we are beyond proud of these hotels’ and resorts’ achievements, says Henrik Berghult, Chief Operating Officer at Nordic Hotels & Resorts.

Sustainability’s Best of the Best
In addition to the awardees of the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Awards, only a handful are lauded as the pinnacle of hospitality: the Best of the Best. The Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best category celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to the hotels that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community. Out of the 8 million listings on Tripadvisor, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone.
In the category of Sustainable destinations, we are thrilled to see our Finnish favorite Hotel Fabian making its way onto the list. The Sustainable category is composed of the conscious travelers’ 15 favorite hotels world-wide, with hotels that stand out for their commitment to sustainability—and where Tripadvisor users are most likely to be found discussing sustainability in positive reviews.
For Kati Jousimies, General Manager at Hotel Fabian, the award comes as an important testament to their operations.
– Since the start, Hotel Fabian has had a reputation as a "home away from home" type of boutique hotel, much thanks to our staff welcoming every guest as a dear friend. In a small hotel, we have more time for every guest, recommending how to explore Helsinki and making their stay as enjoyable as possible. It really is a culture to cherish, says Kati.
Hotel Fabian is a 4-star beauty in Helsinki's Design district, an area full of design and antique shops, fashion stores, museums, art galleries, restaurants and showrooms. Here, you’ll find the most interesting names in Finnish design, classics, and much more. Helsinki’s Design District has played—and still plays—a crucial role in the city’s global reputation as a city of design.
With its location in the heart of this exciting neighborhood, Hotel Fabian is the ideal basecamp when exploring the Finnish capital. The 58-room boutique hotel has made a name for itself with its uniquely welcoming atmosphere. During the summer, it has a lush courtyard which is flooded with natural light, offering a break away from the city bustle. Tripadvisor recommends staying here for a unique mix of both style and friendliness:
“You'll appreciate the stylish interior, clean and functional bathrooms, and the tasty breakfast to start your day. The staff is helpful and friendly, making you feel at ease in the relaxing and safe atmosphere.”
In an era where conscious travel is on many minds, it comes as no surprise that Hotel Fabian has been recognized for its exemplary sustainability efforts. Their dedication to eco-friendly practices and responsible tourism ranges from the small initiatives to the overarching concepts. For example, the entire hotel is powered by renewable energy from Nordic Green Energy. It was also given the Green Key certificate in 2016—a label given to properties that are committed to raising environmental awareness among staff and guests, improving energy and water efficiency, and reducing the environmental impact of its accommodation operations—and has been working with this program ever since.
However, Hotel Fabian also looks beyond industry standards. This can mean investing heavily in both environmental sustainability, and in social responsibility as well. The hotel is a Main Partner of Helsinki Pride through Strawberry Finland, and also works with the Blue Ribbon Foundation, an expert and influencer in the field of homelessness and substance abuse work. For Kati Kati Jousimies, developing and integrating low-threshold operating models in collaboration with organizations like the Blue Ribbon Foundation means creating a more accessible hotel for everyone.
– Sustainability is not something companies can opt out of today. At Hotel Fabian, we have daily initiatives as well as long term plans for a carbon neutral future. On a daily and weekly basis, we measure food waste, follow up on energy consumption, and choose suppliers and partners that we make sure also work towards a more sustainable and responsible future. Sustainability and community are equally important when creating a new tomorrow, and for us at Hotel Fabian, they are everyday topics, says Kati Jousimies, General Manager at Hotel Fabian.
